You can sync files, calendar and contacts from Office to your iPhone. Files are handled in the Nextcloud app, while calendar and contacts are added in the phone’s own settings.
Files:
- Install Nextcloud from the App Store.
- Open the app and enter the address of your Office installation.
- A browser opens where you sign in as usual. Grant access.
- Your files appear in the app. Press and hold a file and select Set as available offline to store it locally.
Calendar:
- Open Settings on the phone and go to Apps, Calendar, Calendar Accounts.
- Select Add Account, then Other and Add CalDAV account.
- Enter the address of your Office installation.
- Fill in your username and an app password, see below, and tap Next.
Your calendars show up in the Calendar app.
Contacts:
- Open Settings on the phone and go to Apps, Contacts, Contacts Accounts.
- Select Add Account, then Other and Add CardDAV account.
- Enter the address of your Office installation.
- Fill in your username and an app password and tap Next.
Your contacts show up in the Contacts app.
Calendar and contacts are two separate accounts. If you want both, add both.
You need an app password. The phone’s calendar and contacts accounts cannot forward you to the usual sign-in page, so they cannot use your ordinary password. Open Office in a browser, go to Settings, Security, and create an app password. Use that instead of your password in the steps above.
Create one app password per device. That way you can revoke access for a lost phone without touching your other devices.
If something does not work:
- Open Advanced Settings and add
/remote.php/dav/principals/users/USERNAME/at the end of the address, using your own username. - If you get an SSL error, check the address. Never turn SSL off; the iPhone requires an encrypted connection and the account stops working without it.
- If signing in fails entirely, check that you are using an app password and not your ordinary password.
