Mail searches subjects and senders by default. To find a phrase inside a message, you need to switch that on separately.
Search in a folder:
- Open the folder you want to search.
- Type in the Search in folder field above the message list.
The search covers the subject, sender and recipient.
Advanced search:
- Click the icon at the end of the search field to open Search parameters.
- Fill in the fields you want to narrow by, such as Search subject or sender.
Search message bodies:
- Open Account settings from the account’s three-dot menu.
- Go to Folder search.
- Switch on Enable mail body search.
The search then includes the body text, and a Search body option appears in advanced search. It is off by default because it puts more load on the server.
Searching from the search box at the top of Office covers your email alongside files and contacts, but only by subject and sender.
